Nighthawks | Poems from Nightmute

Click on the links above to read what students have to say about Nightmute!

Starr Jensen is in the lead! That is to say that she is the Site Administrator for Nightmute. She's grrrreat!!!
These students, pictured here with Deb Vanasse, stayed after school to learn how to use a digital camera!
Teachers do make a difference! Why this happy couple are making a difference both in and out of the classroom. Can you guess which one is the mayor of Nightmute?
Smile for the camera!

Hey, you down there... What flavor is your pen?

Whistle while you work or smile as you cook! It all adds up to TLC in caring for our students. Thanks for keeping our bellies full so our minds can be active!
I shall always remember the songs we sang together at camp NYAC! It is wonderful to travel and see students I've met over the years from Kilbuck or the summer camp program that I enjoy so much!

And here's the proof!

Now that our bellies are full, let's read a book!

Lending a helping hand !!!

This is a little group of cuties - preschoolers!

Erin's elementary class is busy at work!

"Now Suzi, why don't you just leave those little iBooks wiht us. We promise to take good care of them!"
It seems that every site I visit wishes for the same idea!

I knew when to visit this classroom. A bakesale? Yummie!!!

When I wasn't teaching, everytime I turned around there was learning taking place!
Here are some of the crafts that were on display at the school in Nightmute!

Kayak or Quayak in Yup'ik

Baskets are made right here in Nightmute!

The young girls learn how to work with beads from their elders!

Here is a traditional mask design that a student made using a paper plate.

While in windy Nightmute, a person can log on to the internet and seek far away places. Maybe with less wind or maybe with warmer temperatures!

To the left we have a mush ox head that that is displayed in the school. Above shows an example of raincoats made out of Seal. Not the fur, rather this is from the seal's intestine! Both of these animals can be found out here for Nightmute is one of the Nelson Island Villages!

This map depicts where the Yup'ik villages are located which Nightmute is one of!

Nightmute enjoys competition. Check out the trophies to the right.

Why here we have waterfront property for the school playground!

Barges bring supplies for the winter that many folks store in these vans for safe keeping! Part of the village of Nightmute can be seen in the background!
