LKSD Employee Healthcare Plan – Recent and Pending Changes

          Notice to Eligible Employees – January 2007

 

The following changes have been recently made, or are pending to the LKSD Employee Healthcare Plan.  Soon after the last pending change has been made, the benefit booklet will be reprinted and distributed to all eligible employees.   

  1. LKSD is now a member of a large nationwide preferred provider (PPO) network – First Choice Heath.  Their website is  WWW.fchn.COM and phone number is 1-800-672-2140.  First Choice replaces Plan Vista.  Providence Hospital is the only First Choice member in Alaska.

  2. NOTICE TO ALL STAFF PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE DISTRICT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO NEGOTIATE A NEW PPO PLAN WITH THE YUKON KUSKOKWIM HEALTH CORPORATION. YKHC HAS INFORMED THE DISTRICT THAT THE CURRENT PPO PLAN EXPIRES ON DECEMBER 31, 2006. AS A RESULT, THE COST OF HOSPITALIZATION SERVICES, BOTH IN-PATIENT AND OUT-PATIENT, PERFORMED AT THE YKHC FACILITIES AFTER DECEMBER 31, 2006, WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE 60% "STEERAGE PERCENTAGE" SET FORTH IN AN ARTICLE XVII, BETWEEN THE DISTRICT AND THE LOWER KUSKOKWIM NEA (REPRESENTING THE TEACHERS). THIS CHANGE APPLIES TO ALL CLASSIFIED AND CERTIFIED STAFF.
