BOARD ACTIONS - APRIL 02 MEETING
The Lower Kuskokwim School District Board of Education met in regular session
on Friday and Saturday, April 19 & 20 in Bethel. Present for the meeting
were: Lucy Crow, Gerald Demientieff, Roland Lewis (Audio Conference), Richard
Curtis, Robert Nick, Will Updegrove, and Bob Herron. Mary Gregory joined the
meeting on Saturday, April 20, 2002. During the meeting the Board:
" Appointed Ronald Simon of Tuntutuliak to Seat I until October 2002.
" Adopted the minutes of the March 1 & 2 meeting and the Special meeting
on April 5, 2002.
" Heard the following reports:
FAA Safety
School Social Worker
Battle of the Books
MOAs
Superintendent's Report
" Approved the items listed on the Consent Agenda which included:
Routine personnel actions entered into since the January meeting, budget revisions
submitted by BRHS, Akula, Kongiganak, Kwigillingok, M.E., Newtok, Nunapitchuk,
and Tununak.
" Entered into MOAs with the following:
* Vicki Vincent to provide Speech/Language services to the LKSD Special Education
department in the amount not to exceed $52,724.00.
* Donald Zanoff to provide Speech/Language services to the LKSD Special Education
department in the amount not to exceed $62,850.00.
* Lian Tan to provide Speech/Language services to the LKSD Special Education
department in the amount not to exceed $76,200.00.
* JoJo Powell to provide psychological services including assessments, reports,
functional behavior assessments, manifestation hearings & behavior plans
for special education students in the amount not to exceed $73,000.00.
* Diana Marsh to provide Speech/Language serviced to LKSD Special Education
department in the amount not to exceed $24,50.00.
* Barb Burman to provide Speech/Language serviced to LKSD Special Education
department in the amount not to exceed $24,50.00.
* Heather Galligan to provide physical therapy services to identified LKSD Special
Education students in the amount not to exceed $49,175.00.
* Andrea Wheeler to provide psychological services to LKSD Special Education
department in the amount not to exceed $36,976.00.
" Approved the Children's Internet Protection Act.
" Approved Alaska E-Rate Waiver.
" Approved the BABS Travel request to travel to Anchorage on May 6, 2002.
" Approved the Scholarships, Career Ladder & T.E.A.C.H. programs;
" Approved the new position specification for Residence Hall Manager.
" Approved the tentative LKSD School Board meeting dates for FY 2003
August 23 & 24, 2002 October 18 & 19, 2002 December 6 & 7, 2002
January 17 & 18, 2003 February 28 & March 1, 2003 April 18 & 19,
2003
June 4 & 5, 2003
" Set the Budget FY 2003 Public Hearing for May 22, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in
the LKSD Board Room.
" Did not approve the leave of absence request for two teachers.
" Approved the RFP for group health insurance with Administrators West.
" Discussed the following issues:
