Welcome to Chefornak Schools!!!!
As part of the Lower Kuskokwim School District, we are located roughly
5 miles off the coast of the Bering Sea. Our Native Alaskan Village is
comprised of about 500 people, most of whom are Yup'ik Eskimo and enjoy
a subsistence lifestyle of hunting, fishing, and gathering berries. The
landscape here is beautiful flat tundra with softly rolling hills. As
school starts up, the weather is getting colder and we can tell fall is
coming. Many people are busy getting ready for the winter by stocking
their freezers and going to fish camp.
Our school has about 150 students, all of which are Native Alaskan. The
students here study reading, writing, math, science, social studies,
art, computers, life skills, and Yup'ik culture. If you would like to
see samples of their work, please click on the links to the left.
