- She worked at Gibson County High School (Gibson County Tennessee) as a special ed teacher for 2 years.
- She managed a Level 2 group home in Milan, TN for seven years.
- Elizabeth worked with emotionally disturbed individuals for one year... before working as a special education teacher in Quinhagak, AK (LKSD) in the spring of 2005... and then transferring to the distrtict office in the fall of 2005.

Background: JoJo came to LKSD with experience as an elementary teacher,elementary school counselor, community college counselor, child development specialist, mental health family counselor and, of course, school psychologist. JoJo was recognized as the Oregon Counselor of the Year for a program that she and a co-worker developed for working with parents and children of divorce.

From: Ed grew up in  Minnesota in the small river village of Marine on the St. Croix. He attended elementary school in a multi grade 5 teacher school in a class of 10 students. Junior high and high school were a 15 mile bus ride to Stillwater, Minnesota where he graduated from high school. He has lived in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula since 1981 with his spouse of 30 years and he has raised two wonderful children who are now off to college in the lower 48.

"I have been working since 1974 in the capacities of School Psychologist, Director of Pupil Services, Special Educaiton Program Manager for Intensive Needs Students and as a Licensed Clinician in private practice in the state of Alaska based out of Soldotna, Alaska on the Kenai."

"My interests outside of my family and professional involvement include outdoor sports such as travel, sailing, hunting, fishing, golf, skiing and snowmobile riding. I have enjoyed Alaska as a private pilot for many years and have seen parts of Alaska that few have the opportunity to see. I share a small house with some friends in the village of Port Lions on Kodiak Island and spend as much time as possible in the summer fishing and whale watching."

How long with LKSD: "I began my contract with LKSD in the capacity of School Psychologist in 2000 and have thoroughly enjoyed my colleages and the Yup'ik people."

What do you enjoy about your job: "This has been a wonderful experience and I have learned a great deal form the people of the delta and I look forward to future involvement in a most interesting part of the state."

Yup'ik smiles...snow-go rides to the mountains... camaraderie with colleagues... fishing (and actually cathing something)... local classes that aren't offered anywhere else in the world... adventuresome travels (just to get to work)...community support for local artists... seeing a bright full moon and the sun (at the same time)... watching the tundra change colors... delta humor... unique job challenges... camping with good friends... attaining a higher level of balance skills across multiple mediums (including, but not limited to: Toksook Bay mud, Kongiginak boardwalks after a frost, Tununak ice, floating boats and frozen frost heaves at the Alaska Commercial grocery store in Bethel... just to name a few)... long hours of summer sun... local music... and all of the unique individuals and the crazy cast of characters that make this place so speical."
