Day 1
Bethel
On the first day, students travel from their home villages into Bethel. The group of 16 students first need to repack all of their gear into duffle bags to get ready for life on the road. They must also check out the necessary equipment for their science activities. This includes clip boards, binders, safety goggles, raingear, geology handouts, and a minerals kit. Students also learn about one of the ecoregions of Alaska by completing their first ecological investigation of the Coastal Tundra in Bethel.
