Berry Picking

We go berry picking late in the summer and fall time. The types of berries we pick are blueberries, blackberries, salmonberries, and sometimes raspberries. People pick up to 25 to 30 gallons of berries. We pick berries near the villages, or we go camp near Newtok. When we get berries we could make akutaq (Eskimo ice cream) or eat them plain. We also freeze them for the winter.
