The District Science Fair was held on March 17-19, 2016 in Bethel. Students from Kipnuk, Oscarville and Toksook Bay participated in the elementary, middle school and high school divisions of competition.

The students who attended were treated to science-based activities including Model Rocket Building & Launches, Energy Conduction, and Wind Energy. All students who attended should be proud of their work and enthusiasm for science, however, there were a few experiments that really stood out and received special awards.

Grand Prize:

High School Division
  • 1st Place – Scientist Trevor Mesak from Oscarville for “Paper Airplanes”
  • 2nd Place – Scientist Kayla Anaver from Kipnuk for “Piluguq’s vs Bunny Boots
  • 3rd Place – Scientist Katelyn Paul from Kipnuk for “Alaska Lands & Erosion”
Middle School Division
  • 1st Place – Scientists Trinsten Dock & Irene Paul from Kipnuk for “Acids & Bases”
  • 2nd Place – Scientist Destiny Felix from Toksook Bay for “Self-Inflating Balloon”
  • 3rd Place – Scientist Desiree Asuluk from Toksook Bay for “Balloon Rocket”
Elementary Division
  • 1st Place – Scientist Bethany Lincoln from Toksook Bay for “Windmills”
  • 2nd Place – Scientist John Stevens from Oscarville for “Molding Potatoes”
