Congratulations to Matthew Enoch of Nunapitchuk, the first recipient of the annual Victor Kanrilak Memorial School Community Advocate Award!

The Social Work Department created this award to recognize the role school community advocates have in helping to promote positive school climate in our schools.  Their work on improving attendance, helping families feel connected to the school and helping students in all ways is in direct correlation to our LKSD mission.

The award is dedicated to the memory of Victor Kanrilak, of Tununak, a long time LKSD employee and school community advocate. Victor showed kindness to all and his strong belief was to "Live with love and compassion."

Matthew Enoch embodies those same qualities of living with love and compassion.  He is described by a co-worker as "one of the most patient, considerate and well-mannered people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. His manner of speaking to students is very friendly, firm but gentle. He is trustworthy and very effective at addressing sensitive issues with parents....He is encouraging to all students".  Matthew has worked for LKSD for 28 years and has been the school community advocate at Anna Tobeluk Memorial School in Nunapitchuk for the last 23 years.
