College Application Checklist

 

Hoffman Scholarship Both life-long Alaskans, the late James and Dorothy Hoffman were strong advocates of education, and community involvement. They were active in the VFW, Lions Club and worked to make Bethel a better place to live. Both were involved in air and river transportation. A commercial pilot, James Hoffman was the first representative in Juneau when Alaska became a state in 1959.  
NEA-Alaska Scholarship NEA-Alaska will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors who will be pursuing a degree in education post high school. The scholarships awarded will be between $1,000 and $5,000 depending on the number of applicants, their eligibility, and assessment of their applications by their regional NEA-Alaska Scholarship Review Committee.  
Equitable Excellence Scholarship® Program Equitable Foundation has established the Equitable Excellence Scholarship® Program program to assist high school seniors and current undergraduates who are planning to continue their education at a two- or four-year college in the United States by Fall 2025. Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA), Region I Eight $1000 scholarships for four male and four female students to pursue post-secondary education or vocational education. For students who have actively participated in ASAA. Deadline: March 30, 2024. 24-25 Application
AVCP Tribal Workforce Development Need-based higher education and vocational training scholarships for eligible tribal members. Deadlines: April 30, June 30, December 30 for High Ed. Scholarship; and 30 days prior to start date for vocational training. AVCP Tribal Workforce Development Website
AVEC For training or advancement of skills or trades that can be applicable for work in communities with AVEC presence. Application deadline for Fall is mid-April. Website information and application

CVRF Louis Bunyan Memorial Scholarship Assistance to CVRF residents who wish to pursue careers but might not otherwise be able to further their academic education due to financial need. CVRF Scholarship website
Delta Western $10,000 scholarship. Deadline: April 12, 2024. Can be applied to two-year or four-year program. Website and application
Doyon Foundation Available to Doyon shareholders and/or direct descendants. Scholarships for full-time and part time students, for non-degree programs and course, and for high school students taking college credits. Deadline March 15. Doyon scholarships webpage
Gates Scholarship Selected Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance to earn a bachelor’s degree. Costs covered include tuition, fees, books, housing and food, and may include additional personal costs. More Information on Gates Scholarship
James & Dorothy Hoffman Memorial $1000 Scholarship $1000 scholarship for BRHS or KLA graduating senior who will attend college or trade school. Deadline May 7, 2024. Application

John Active Memorial Scholarship One $1000 scholarship for a college student with ties to the YK Delta with preference given to those studying journalism, indigenous language, multimedia or communications. Deadline early June. Application

Mary Ciuniq Pete Legacy Scholarship $1000 scholarships to KuC students returning for third semester and beyond. Preference given to students who are Alaska Native women. Deadline June 1. Application

YDFDA (Yukon Delta Fisheries Development Association) Applicant must be a resident of one of the 6 villages of YDFDA (Alakanuk, Emmonak, Grayling, Kotlik, Mountain Village, and Nunam Iqua) for at least 5 continuous years at any time prior to application. Information and application link

Alaska

McClain J. “Mack” Easton Memorial Scholarship The scholarship is named for a former ALASBO member. There will be one $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors. The applicant must intend to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university in a degree related course of study or a vocational education program. Application
Dave Jones Memorial Scholarship The scholarship is named for a former ALASBO member. There will be one $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors. June Nelson Memorial Scholarship The Association of Alaska School Boards proudly presents the June Nelson Memorial Scholarship, honoring a true champion of Alaskan education. This competition offers up to fifteen scholarships of $1,500 each for high school seniors and returning college sophomores pursuing their post-secondary education goals – college, trade or vocational school. Alaska Travel Industry Association Scholarship These scholarships range from $500-$5,000. To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must be an Alaska resident, plan to maintain their Alaska residence if they are studying out of state, and are studying a subject related to the tourism industry (hospitality, recreation, business, marketing, etc.) or are seeking a certification related to the tourism industry such as a pilot license. Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium awards $5,000 scholarships to qualified Alaska Native and American Indian students to increase Alaska Native and American Indian people working in health care fields.
