What is the ANSEP Career Explorations?
ANSEP Career Explorations is organized to provide project exploration for past and currently involved ANSEP participants who have yet to enter high school. During each academic and residential experience, students take part in cool, hands-on projects designed to promote science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and careers. Students attend this program free of charge. This Career Exploration offering is sponsored by AVCP and in partnership with the Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD). Students attend for free.
When and where will the ANSEP Career Explorations occur?
Career Explorations is a five-day, academic, residential program that emphasizes increasing knowledge and skills while re-engaging students into ANSEP and campus life. Industry professionals, ANSEP staff and/or University faculty will lead the sessions. Career Explorations will be held and housed on the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). Program dates are November 6-10, 2023. Students will travel on November 5 and 11, 2023. It is mandatory for all participants to stay for the entire duration of the program. No check outs are allowed during the program due to the short duration.
Who should apply to the ANSEP Career Explorations?
All past and currently involved ANSEP participants who are in grades 6, 7, or 8 who:
o Are interested in STEM
o Have at least a B average in science and mathematics courses, and
o Are on track (or can get on track) to complete Algebra 1 before entering High School.
