Take Wing “Tengluni” (TWT), offered by Calista Education and Culture, Inc. is a program for high school seniors in the Calista region to assist in their pursuit of post-secondary education.
It is a free program that will provide information and support throughout the academic year to help students pursue college, vocational training, or any training program after high school.
Virtual sessions will be provided several times per month in Yuuyaraq, the Yup’ik “way of being”, with cultural teachings and advice from Elders.
Virtual sessions will also provide academic guidance in: college/vocational admissions, applying for scholarships and financial aid, making healthy and safe choices, soft skills training, and the opportunity to visit college/vocational campuses (UAA/APU, AVTEC), along with individual mentorship.
Week-long Immersions are planned in Anchorage (Fall 2022) and Spring 2023 (location to-be-determined) where students can learn and interact with TWT Staff and tour college campuses.
