Dear parents, students, and the entire LKSD learning community,
Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year! We are excited for the new school year to start and look forward to seeing your students back in school soon. All LKSD schools begin either August 10th or 11th, depending on site- specific school calendars. Please check your local school website for more detailed information. For Bethel families, school bussing will be available for students. Please complete this survey so that the district may appropriately plan bus routes and communitate routes with families opting for bussing service.
The LKSD Board of Education recently approved revised COVID-19 protocols for the school district. One of the main revisions to the COVID-19 protocols is optional masking at all risk levels for both in-person learning and student activities. A summary of mitigation measures can be found below. I highly encourage you to view the complete plan, found on the LKSD website in the COVID HUB.
LKSD will continue to utilize the CDC COVID-19 Community Levels guidance for determining a base risk level/operational status for each school in the district. LKSD will ensure that each school is also following local ordinances, should they include more stringent mitigation strategies than the district’s. When an individual community is identified by YKHC as having widespread community transmission, the local school(s) will be moved to the high risk operational status until widespread community transmission of COVID-19 is resolved in that community. Should you have any questions about the changes to LKSD’s COVID-19 protocols, or how they apply to your school or child/children, please begin by reaching out to your local school administrator.
